Vietnam – an ideal budget destination for international students

It is obviously that studying abroad is a dream for students, not only prompting personal growth but enriching cultural experience incomparably. However, not all students could have chance to study abroad. One of main reasons is the financial difficulty.  Luckily for all students who desire to hop on a plane to a foreign country and gain international experience on a budget, study abroad in Vietnam may be just what you are looking for.

Ho Chi Minh City – The largest and the fastest developing city in Vietnam.

Vietnam (the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) is one of the most dynamic emerging countries in Southeast Asia region. Vietnam is bordered by China to the north, Laos to northwest, Cambodia to the southwest and the sea to the east and southeast.

Vietnam is a fairly cheap destination for travelling, studying, and living compared to most other countries in Asia. It is also filled with friendly people, affordable accommodation, cheap, healthy, and tasty food, and stunning landscapes that make it a standout choice among Southeast Asian study abroad destinations. In fact, Forbes ranked Vietnam as the cheapest place to travel in 2017, among affordable study abroad destinations like Bali, Indonesia, Cambodia, Portugal, and Barcelona, Spain. But affordability isn’t all Vietnam has to offer.

Vietnam is also a fast-moving city with a high speed of internationalization and numbers of prospective educational and career opportunities, thanks to its recent economic growth. According to the World Economic Forum, the country is one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia and home to two of the most dynamic cities in the world – Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi is the capital and also the second largest city of Vietnam. The city lies on the right bank of the Red River. October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment of the city.

Vietnam has offered some of the most extraordinary opportunities for student learning such as small-scale agricultural production, cultural heritage preservation techniques and examining unique business ventures in tourism, hospitality, and information technology. From Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Vietnam’s higher education universities & institutions offer broader and broader range of programs which are taught in English, aiming to provide international study environments for Vietnamese students as well as to prepare them English & skills for future integration. With the fast growth in economy and globalization, leading universities and institutions has started to recruit international students to come and study in Vietnam, which make the country comes closer to multi-culturalization and integration.

Established in September 2006, FPT University was the first private school established by the enterprise. Since 2013, the university has recruited international to study both full-time programs and exchange courses. Up to now, FPT University has had more than 300 international students studying full- time programs from different countries and regions in the world including Japan, South Korea, Belgium, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nigeria, etc. In addition, in early August, FPT International Student Exchange Center (FISEC) of FPT University received about 80 international students coming to Vietnam for internships, cultural exchanges, English learning and community experiences. Most students come from Thailand, Japan, Brunei and South Korea. By the end of this month, the number is expected to increase to 100.

Vietnam is on the way pursuing accreditation for more education programs. According to latest update of Vietnam Government Portal on education (5 August 2016), Vietnam has 62 internationally accredited programs nationwide by prestigious organizations namely ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology certification, USA), AUN – QA (Quality Assurance In Asean University Network), FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation), ISO 9001: 2008, etc.

In 2012, FPT University became the first university in Vietnam to be awarded a 3-star ranking by the QS World University Ranking System, equal to University of London South Bank (UK), Lobachesky University (Russia), etc. Especially, FPT University has attained 5 stars (maximum star level) for 4 criteria including Teaching with 100% curriculum from foreign country. Training programs follow international standards such as ABET and ACM, as well as updated regularly.

In addition, FPT University has received many prestigious awards for training quality including Best 1000 Business Schools in more than 150 countries in the world by Eduniversal (USA).

In the list published by UniRank on August 2018, FPT University ranked fourth among nearly 70 top universities in Vietnam. Previously, on June 2018, FPT University is officially recognized as an Associate Membership of ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).  AUN – QA is a non-profit organization in Quality Assurance Training for ASEAN University to realise the mission of harmonising educational standards and seeking continuous improvement of academic quality of universities in ASEAN. On June 2016, the university became a member of ACBSP. On April 2017, it became a full member of the CDIO Association.

According to the statistics, 98% of students have jobs after 3 months of graduation and their salary is 27% higher than the normal level. Among them, 31% have worked for FPT Corporation while 4.5% started up their businesses and 19% worked in foreign countries or foreign companies.
