Google and FPT Greenwich change the perception of women in the IT industry

As an international university with the strengths in information technology, University of Greenwich (Vietnam) normally known as FPT Greenwich wishes to create opportunities for young students while encourage more female students keeping passionate on IT through this event.

Interested participants at the University of Greenwich (Vietnam) were early to register for the class.

On March 24, University of Greenwich (Vietnam) in collaboration with Google Developer Group Hanoi held “Techmakers 2018 x Study Jams”. Under the management of Google Developers Relation Team – Google US and Google Developers Relation Team – Google Singapore, Google Developer Group Hanoi is authorized to host all events for Google developers in Hanoi. The event attracted 70 participants, 65% of participants were women. Of which, 10 female students and staff were from the University of Greenwich (Vietnam).

The program is Google’s effort to encourage more women participating in the IT arena as well as raise better employment policies for women who are considered as a minority in the industry. Participants will have opportunity to approach standard curriculum provided by Google with support from Mr. Le Van Giap- VCCorp Mobile Tech Leader. They also need to complete the online exam within 90 minutes and reach 80% of the total score to be certified.

Many female students and IT professionals were excited to join the program at University of Greenwich (Vietnam).

Women Techmakers is a program created by Google to celebrate International Women’s Day and to highlight the talent of women in technology. In 2018, we’re organizing the third edition in Montreal as part of the special event The Women Techmakers Global Event Series Celebrating International Women’s Day (WTM IWD). This program has been in over 200 global events and seen across 52 countries. The main focus of this community-building initiative is to promote talented and passionate women, increase the visibility of the Montreal technology community and empower women in technology.

The Women Techmakers event in Hanoi this year was held under the form of MSites Study Jam – an online course which will authorize Mobile Sites Certification for those who demonstrate proficiency in the design and development of mobile websites upon completion.

The program also attracted the attention of foreign students.

As an international university with the strengths in information technology, University of Greenwich (Vietnam) wishes to create opportunities for young students while encourage more female students keeping passionate on IT through this event. Graduates of IT majors at University of Greenwich (Vietnam) have opportunity to work at leading technology groups such as FPT, VCCorp, Cybridge asia, TMA Solutions, CMC, etc.
