The final round of FU Mobile Challenge- a mobile application programming contest organized by Fcode Club of FPT University has ended successfully. The Bus Helper Mobile Apps for young students by Pham Hoang Long has won the first prize due to the user-friendly and good technical products.
With the steady growth of smartphones, mobile applications are becoming diverse to adapt the needs of people in the digital age. The application programming contest on Android and IOS for mobile phones has created an exciting and rewarding playground for FPT University students to approach and learn new technology trends as well as create useful products for daily life.
In the third year, FU Mobile Challenge had received more than 10 creative ideas. After more than three months of supporting and reviewing, the organizer has selected three teams with outstanding ideas to convert to the real product.
In the finals, each team has 10 minutes to present their product and convince the judge. The marking scores in this section based on three criterias including the product concept accounting for 60%, operation accounting for 30% and the presentation accounting for 10%. On the basis of the current IT needs, the judge gave feedback to improve practical look at the future of mobile programming in Vietnam for the teams.
With the product ideas derived from daily life, teams have demonstrated their ability to apply technology to solve real problems and improve the quality of life. Recognizing the inconvenience in managing the teachers’ schedules in primary and secondary schools, Manh Hoang Huy and Le Ngo Khanh Linh introduced the “Time Management” application. With just a few simple steps on the tablet, the teachers can send instant alerts to the class on schedule changes or unexpected notifications.
The second prize belonged to “Street Vendor Finder” application which would connect street vendors and junk food lovers, opening up a small opportunity for an e-commerce system. This is the youngest team, but has demonstrated their superiority by studying cross platform programming.
FU Mobile Challenge 2017 was awarded the first prize to Pham Hoang Long. Recognizing the difficulty of finding a bus route for students, Hoang Long sought to optimize the use of the Google Map API to provide “Bus Helper for young people” application. Instead of navigating between locations multiple times, with just a few simple steps on the application, users can find the entire route through different locations. The system has some limited points but the team has excellent protection of their product in the final round and has won the championship.
According to Mr. Truong Long- CEO and Founder of Lilotech and former student of FPT University, in general, the applications met technical requirements. With more investment, these applications could commercialize. “I hope Fcode Club will have such competitions to cultivate experience not only on programming techniques but also presentation skill,” Mr. Long said.
