FPT student won at Google Code-in 2017

Over 3,555 candidates, Le Duc Hieu from FPT High School recently won at Google Code-in 2017.

Le Duc Hieu (right) received a full scholarship named Green Talent from the University of Greenwich (Vietnam) worth VND 280 million (USD 12,320).

Google has recently sent a notice to Le Duc Hieu (12th grader at FPT high school) who won the Grand Prize Winners in the Google Code-in 2017 for 13-17 year-old student around the world.

According to Google, Google Code-in 2017 had 3,555 participants from 78 countries. Hieu is the only Vietnamese who win the prize along with 49 other young students from big countries such as USA, India, UK, Canada, Poland, China, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Singapore, etc.

With this prize, Hieu will be given a trip to visit Google headquarters in Silicon Valley in California and meet Google engineers. The organizer will cover all expenses, meals, hotel, travel and visa fees. He also received a full scholarship from the University of Greenwich (Vietnam) worth VND 280 million (USD 12,320).

Previously, Hieu won the first prize in Information Technology in 8th grade, first prize in the Microsoft Office Computing Competition held in Hanoi in 2016.

After returning to Vietnam, Hieu is about to complete his studies and become a freshman at the University of Greenwich (Vietnam).

Sharing about his achievements, Hieu said that when he heard the introduction of Google Code-in contest organized by University of Greenwich (Vietnam) and Fossasia Foundation, he was very excited. Having a special passion for Computer Science, Hieu decided to sign up for a trial at a large playground hosted by Google. “Do not worry, if you feel you can do it, try hard,” Hieu said.
