FPT proposes to develop a smart factory in Slovakia

FPT CEO Bui Quang Ngoc affirmed that FPT Vietnam will prompt the development of Slovakia not only as an important market for the corporation but also a global service center.

On November 27, FPT CEO Bui Quang Ngoc and Editor-in-Chief of VnExpress and FPT Online Chairman Thang Duc Thang, welcomed Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini at Duy Tan Building.

On the official visit to Vietnam from November 25th to 29th, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of investment and IT of Slovakia- Peter Pellegrini, visited and worked with FPT on November 27. The delegation also included Economic Minister Peter Žiga, Minister of Finance Peter Kažimír and Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Slovakia in Vietnam Le Hong Quang.

Deputy Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said that IT sector is one of key pillars of Slovakia’s economic development and welcomes FPT investment in Slovakia.

CEO FPT Bui Quang Ngoc shares that the company is present in 21 countries with more than 30,000 employees. In the first 10 months of 2017, foreign markets of FPT recorded revenue reached VND 5.5 trillion, up 16% compared to the same period last year. Profit before tax reached VND 850 billion, up 19% over the same period last year, accounting for nearly one third of the group’s profit.

FPT’s leaders said that in the globalization strategy of FPT, together with three key markets including US, Japan and Europe, Slovakia is an important motives in the European market. In 2017, revenue from the European market of FPT is expected to reach USD 30 million, of which FPT Slovakia contributes over 40%.

FPT  Slovakia not only provides services RWE Group but also implements a number of other major projects in the energy, logistics, automotive and industrial sectors.

At the meeting, FPT CEO proposed to Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia to support visa granting for Vietnamese people to work in Slovakia and facilitate FPT to develop and provide IT services such as smart factories, smart transportation, education and health insurance in Slovakia. Mr. Ngoc also said that FPT will promote the development of FPT Slovakia not only as an important market for FPT but also a center for global services.

In response to the suggestion of FPT’s leaders, Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia said that he would urgently work with relevant agencies to find solutions on working visas for foreign companies investing in Slovakia.

Mr. Peter Pellegrini also expected that FPT Slovakia will continue to maintain its presence in Slovakia in order to take advantage of the best support from the Government of Slovakia as well as qualified human resources.

In addition, Finance Minister Peter Kažimír noted some issues of concern, including the issue of intellectual property registration. He said he would be willing to help FPT in ownership rights registration.

Deputy Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini also paid a visit to VnExpress. Launched on the Internet on February 26, 2001, over 16 years, VnExpress always hold the position as the most popular e- newspaper in Vietnam. At present, VnExpress publishes an average of 500 news articles. 95% of them are written by versatile journalists using the editor’s multi-platform edition. There are over 6.5 million regular readers (users), generating more than 32 million pageviews a day.

The visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia is an opportunity for FPT to expand its business in the country as well as in Europe. The Slovakian side also agreed to cooperate under the previously signed memorandum with the Ministry of Information and Communications.
