It’s the first time that nearly 40 students from Temasek Polytechnic (Singapore), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and FUNIX (Vietnam) joined a special culture exchange held by FPT Education Global. Although the event was held online due to the impact of COVID 19, participants could not hide their excitement.
Cultural exchange activities are the indispensable part of FPT Education Global mobility programs. However, when the programs are deployed online, it is very difficult for cultural exchange to take place effectively. FPT Edu Global have recently developed an initiative called “Culture Race” regarding this issue. The first Culture Race was held last weekend with the participation of students from Temasek Polytechnic Singapore, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta Indonesia and FUNIX Vietnam.
“We want to create a playground to connect all students and at the same time help them learn more about cultures of other countries,” said Ms. Thao Hoang – a representative from FPT Education. “That is the lofty purpose we created the Cultural Race”.
The event has witnessed the participation of Mr. Hoang Van Cuong – Dean of FPT Education Global, FPT University; Dr.Vinta Angela – Head of Unit of International Affairs/ Partnerships of Faculty of Education at UNY; Mr. Leslie Chan – Lecturer of International Relations from Department at Temasek Polytechnic; Ms. Nguyen Ha Van – Public Relations from FUNIX – an online university under FPT Education; and nearly 40 students from three universities.
During the programs, all students were divided into 5 teams that are combined between many universities.. Each team has a different characteristic and identity shown by their name and slogan.
The race consists of 4 rounds: Warm-up – is a round to introduce the identity of the teams; Starting – teams will answer 5 questions as 5 hints to find the final keyword; Acceleration – teams respond to questions through video hints; Finish line – teams will compete to cook “banh xeo” of Vietnam.
“I feel that I have learnt a lot about the different cultures and traditions of Indonesia and Vietnam. It exposed me to the different styles of cooking and daily practices which allowed me to understand more about the differences of the different countries,” Kiefer, a student from Temasek Polytechnic shared happily.
The successful delivery of this program via an online platform has demonstrated the ability and commitment of FPT Education Global to bring high-quality and extremely experimental education for international students.
The Remote Internship Program was built by FPT with many side activities, giving students the opportunity to connect more than just going to internship. Thereby, FPT hopes that the students can hone their teamwork skills, leadership and other skills, and also introduce national cultures. Hopefully, through these activities, the students will have beautiful memories with FPT Global and with Vietnam.
See you all again at the next Cultural Race!
