On August 27, Bett ASIA in collaboration with Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training held a seminar under the theme “Cultivating Global Collaboration in Education” in Hanoi.

The seminar focuses on the development, potential and challenges of Vietnam education systems. The events was attended by high-status guest speakers from Ministry of Education and Training, British Embassy Hanoi, Vietnam Education Consultants. Ltd, and Hung Viet Education Consultants JSC.


Challenges to face

Speaking at the seminar, all guest speakers agreed with the potential development of Vietnam education. However, a number of challenges and disadvantages that the country has to face were also shown in the seminar. During the first session of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Manh Hung, Deputy Chief Technical Officer from Ministry of Education and Training has given three main weaknesses of the educational system. “Lack of infrastructure and facilities, inconsistency between theory and practice as well as the weakness on language training has pull the development down,” said Mr. Bui Manh Hung. “We have thousands gradates every year but despite the excellent result, a lot of them are unemployed or working in different industry”.

Agreed with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Manh Hung, Dr. Dang Duc Dzung, President and CEO at Hung Viet Education Consultants JSC has highlighted the incomprehensible relationship between university and businesses, and lack of job information system as main reasons of high unemployment rate. He also highlighted the importance of technology in training and education.

New university generation

On this scene, many international universities have seen this potential cake and join Vietnam market. In addition, a number of students and parents decided to study abroad to catch up with the requirement of employers. However, both of these two options are very expensive.
