Around 80 Laotian youths might never forget a small guy with lovely smile – Toteng Chuexong Maiteng stepping to the stage and sharing his experiences in Vietnam in general and at FPT University in particular. This is a part of activities series to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations within the framework of the Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Meeting 2017.
Toteng is an excellent student from Laos who got a scholarship after a test and an interview of Laos Ministry of Education and Sports. At that time, he studied Laos-Vietnam relationships in a reputable college in Vientiane, Laos. Fortunately, he had received information about the scholarship of FPT University from Laos Ministry of Education and Sports. Although he knew the test and interview was very hard but he still decided to try. “I was very surprised when I received email informing that I had passed the test and joined the interview,” he said. “I was very afraid of my English because English is not my strength. I had to prepare for one week before doing the interview”.
Sharing about the reason Toteng decided to go to Vietnam, he said that he wants to understand Vietnamese people and language deeply that can helps him to develop his future career and do some small businesses with Vietnamese people. “My father and grandfather are very good at Vietnamese and I really want to do better than them. But it seems that I need to learn more,” he smiled.
After four years studying in Vietnam and at FPT, Toteng has become familiar with this places. He had met a lot of difficulties especially when he decided to live in another country. “The learning course at FPT University is really hard,” he shared. “ I even thought about suicide when I failed my English class because it was the first time that I had failed in my life. Nothing is easy to accept at the first time”. However, Toteng quickly overcame to achieve his dream and target when he decided to go to Vietnam. “You will have the courage and ability to make everything possible when you follow FPT University’s program,” he smiled.
Currently, this lovely guy from Laos is an intern at FPT University Global Office. In the eyes of his colleagues, he is a responsible and friendly person who can speak Vietnamese quite well. “I’m glad to have a chance to work here, meeting lovely co-workers and cute boss,” he proudly stated. “I’m not sure in the future if I can find any perfect workplaces like this”.
It’s obvious that the skill and knowledge that he has gained from FPT University supports him a lot in the office. “It’s never enough to say thank you to FPT University as I have learnt a lot of things including English, Vietnamese, deep knowledge on business and many soft skills,” he enhanced.
