Mr. Pengiran Sahari Pengiran Salleh, the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam, highly appreciates the education model of FPT which enables the Brunei students to participate in learning and cultural experiences, and especially the relationship between the two countries becomes more cohesive.
In the evening of December 7th, FPT International Students Exchange Center (FISEC) – FPT University held a closing ceremony and awarded study programs’ certificates for Brunei students at FPT Complex Building. Joining the ceremony is Mr. Pengiran Sahari Pengiran Salleh – the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam in Vietnam, and his wife – the leader of the National University of Brunei; along with the attendance of FPT University Chairman – Mr. Le Truong Tung, and Vice Chairman – Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam. The ceremony comprised of various entertainment performances by Brunei students studying in Danang and Hanoi. Particularly in 2016, FISEC has welcomed about 500 international students from Brunei, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, France, USA … for the student exchange programs, internships, study and short-term exchanges in Vietnam. Vice Chairman of FPT University, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam felt honored as welcoming the Brunei delegation in such important event of international students. “I believe that this ceremony will leave a good impression to everyone. The Brunei students, in particular, certainly has had interesting experiences in Vietnam”, Mr. Nam shared. Since this is the second time being to Danang with his wife, Ambassador of the Brunei Darussalam in Vietnam sent his thank to FPT University as creating opportunities for students to engage in learning and experience the culture. “I feel happy that there are more and more Brunei students coming to Vietnam for studying. I’m proud of the courage of my students, since they try to step out their comfort’s zone and study in another country to become global citizens. This has contributed to the connection between Vietnamese and Bruneian. Through the educational bridge, the two countries are further tightened”, he acknowledged. Dr. Anita Aziz – Headmaster of National University of Brunei recalled the time she first met Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam at a meeting in Indonesia 4 years ago. And it all became reality due to a cooperation, leading to an enduring relationship between FPT University and National University of Brunei. She stressed that “Bringing students to study abroad is an important task. It helps them mature more about communication skills, critical thinking, analysis, and especially this is a chance of promoting the country’s image to countries in the region. About 3-4 years recently, FPT University has always given a dedicated reception to the Brunei students. It is a great honor for us”. Representative of Ngu Hanh Son District’s Education Department, Mrs. Luong Thi Tam confirmed that the Brunei students have had practical activities in supporting teachers as well as students in learning English. “The lessons are quite lively and suitable with the students in Ngu Hanh Son District. I hope FPT University and National University of Brunei will continue to have such significant cooperating programs”. Joining the closing ceremony, there is also an appearance of Thailand students studying at FISEC. In order to commemorate the King – Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand group had an emotional remembrance. King Bhumibol died on October 13th at aged 88, after 70 years of reign. Millions of Thais shed tears when knowing this sad news, since the King is a symbol of solidarity and unity of the nation, and a pillar for a national stability. (A song named “Home” was performed by a male staff of FISEC) FISEC first launched in August this year on the basis of upgrading the former Department of Exchange Students and Short-term Admission of International Student Development (FGO). Earlier, FGO Danang Office (now known as FISEC) was located at 137 Nguyen Thi Thap Street, Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District. To achieve the long-term project of turning Danang into a city of English and educational exports, FISEC decided to move the office to the Smart Nano Building (Danang Industrial Zone). Next is the performances shown by students from Le Van Hien Primary school and Huynh Ba Chanh Secondary school. These are the two schools that Brunei students volunteered to teach English as well as to do many other community activities The Brunei students came on stage to receive their certificates along with a souvenir from the Chairman of FPT University – Le Truong Tung and the Brunei Ambassador – Pengiran Sahari Pengiran Salleh. For this time, FISEC awarded a total of 31 certificates to Brunei students for participating in learning in Danang and Hanoi; particularly, Danang has 24 students. Spending more than two months in Vietnam, the group has experienced, explored historical sites, took part in volunteer activities and taught English for Danang students. Some students also attended the internship and did their thesis. FPT University and the Brunei exchanged souvenirs. In addition, FPT University also gave souvenirs to the primary and secondary schools in the district Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang. FPT International Student Exchange Center looks forward to making the Central of Vietnam become the center of educational export of the area. In 2017, FISEC is expected to receive about 1000 international students.
